When constructing a new single family home on a single lot, Storm Water Management (SWM) is required. SWM is intended to take the rain water that falls upon the roof of the house and physically distribute it back into the earth in a specific manner. An Engineer will have to make the calculations and design a system with a recharge area that will perform the job. The Township must approve the complete system design. Then it can go out to bid and be constructed.
There are several different methods of design regarding the recharge area. The SWM system that we show is completely underground. This was the choice of the Owner. It costs a bit more than an open pit; but after the grass grew, you don’t even notice it is there.
