A typical Historical Restoration project involves many people from various authorities. First, you have the Owner and their “vision”. An Architect will create the drawings to reflect the work. The local Historical Review Board will review and add comments. Local Code Enforcement will review and add comments. Then, it goes back to the Architect to make the changes. Back to the review Boards again. And finally, to the Contractor to bid the project.
Historical Restorations necessitate many “old school” skills, which require craftsmen who have the knowledge and experience in those areas. In our projects, we have custom made curved hand rails to match 200-year-old stairway railings. We have replicated plaster cornices and crown moldings to replace damaged ones. We fabricate our own ornate iron work for balconies and gates. We have even constructed business storefronts out of Philippine mahogany and black marble.
